STOCKTON – Just because you’re looking for an almost new car doesn’t mean you have to break the bank to get it.
Just as the people at Hertz Auto Sales.
As one of the nation’s largest car rental facilities, Hertz institutes a mandatory one-year fleet lifespan for every car that they purchase with the intention of renting it out. That means that they either have to scrap the car after that period has expired, or find another way to turn the car over to somebody else.
Those in the best shape, says Hertz Stockton Auto Sales Manager John Enea, are sent to dealerships like his located behind the old Wal-Mart building on Stockton’s Hammer Lane, situated just next to the entrance to the Stockton Auto Mall. They are presented to prospective buyers with the factory warranty, if it still applies, in place for the new buyer.
“The biggest difference between buying a new car and a car from us is that you’re saving that depreciation while at the same time getting a quality car – all of which are still under their factor warranty,” said Hertz Car Sales Stockton Sales Manager John Enea. “It’s really a wise choice for people who are looking for value.”
Only the best cars from the Hertz fleet, which have to undergo a massive inspection to determine whether they’re fit for sale to the general public, eventually make their way to places like Enea’s growing lot.
Those found to be unfit are either sold off to auction companies, private used car dealers, or other outlets rather than trying to pass them off as authentic and quality vehicles.
And while there’s an ample supply of vehicles onsite for customers to choose from, Enea has the ability to turn to other Hertz locations where the single vehicle you might be in the market for happens to be sitting.
“People from all over recognize the value that these cars provide,” Enea said. “And if somebody wants something that we don’t have on our lot but we have it at another location we’re able to get those cars here for those customers.”
Hertz Car Sales is located at 3646 Telestar Place Spot C off of Stockton’s Hammer Lane. To get there from Manteca, take Highway 99 North to the Hammer Lane exit and head west before eventually turning left on Sampson Road and following the road the corner. The entrance to the site is on the left. The site is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
