Is new car smell worth thousands more?

STOCKTON – Sure the new car smell is nice, but is worth the thousands of dollars that you forfeit when you drive a brand new car off the lot?
Hertz Used Car Sales will definitively tell you no.

The nation’s largest car rental firm – which turns out every fleet vehicle worthy to be included on their used car lots after only a year of service – is trying to reach out to customers looking to save a few dollars while still enjoying the perks of a late-model car or truck without any of the financial drawbacks.

And as the only Hertz Used Car center in the area – drawing customers from as far away as Oregon as the only one of its kind from here to Riverside – Stockton’s site just outside of the Stockton Auto Mall is a regular stop for shoppers looking to save money, preserve the original factory warranty, and feel better about their purchase given Hertz’ golden reputation.

“The biggest difference between buying a new car and a car from us is that you’re saving that depreciation while at the same time getting a quality car – all of which are still under their factor warranty,” said Hertz Car Sales Stockton Sales Manager John Enea. “It’s really a wise choice for people who are looking for value.”

Only the best cars from the Hertz fleet, which have to undergo a massive inspection to determine whether they’re fit for sale to the general public, eventually make their way to places like Enea’s growing lot.

Those found to be unfit are either sold off to auction companies, private used car dealers, or other outlets rather than trying to pass them off as authentic and quality vehicles.

And while there’s an ample supply of vehicles onsite for customers to choose from, Enea has the ability to turn to other Hertz locations where the single vehicle you might be in the market for happens to be sitting.

“People from all over recognize the value that these cars provide,” Enea said. “And if somebody wants something that we don’t have on our lot but we have it at another location we’re able to get those cars here for those customers.”

Hertz Car Sales is located at 3646 Telestar Place Spot C off of Stockton’s Hammer Lane. To get there from Manteca, take Highway 99 North to the Hammer Lane exit and head west before eventually turning left on Sampson Road and following the road the corner. The entrance to the site is on the left. The site is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
