STOCKTON – It’s no secret that cars have become part of our daily lives – from picking the kids up from soccer practice to commuting to work.

But why deal with the hassle of paying dealer markup fees and having to deal with depreciation once you drive it off the lot?

That’s exactly the question that Hertz – one of the largest rental car companies in the United States – is asking right now.

Rather than dealing with traditional dealership hassles and exorbitant prices, Hertz offers used cars that have been retired from its massive fleet of vehicles at thousands less than others – even after they’ve undergone an extensive screening to find any flaws.

“The biggest difference between buying a new car and a car from us is that you’re saving that depreciation while at the same time getting a quality car – all of which are still under their factor warranty,” said Hertz Car Sales Stockton Sales Manager John Enea. “It’s really a wise choice for people who are looking for value.

“The cars that we have on the lot are all just a year old, and still under their factory-offered warranty, and we also make it available for customers to extend that warranty and have a car that they can enjoy without having to worry about the depreciation of a new car – giving them the car that they want with the warranty they can appreciate.”

Popular models like the Nissan Altima, the Ford Focus, and even the fuel-saving Prius are included in Stockton’s arsenal of low-cost vehicles that are available to customers – retired from the rental fleet after spending one year in service.

And while rental cars might not have the best image when it comes to long-life – due to customer abuse and extensive wear-and-tear – Enea says that people can feel safe when they drive away.

“Almost 80 percent of our customers are either corporate or business clients or families that are on vacation,” he said. “There are definitely cheaper avenues for renting a car if all that you’re planning on doing is beating up on it, and the company goes out of its way to stand by the cars that it makes available.”

Hertz Car Sales is located at 3646 Telestar Place Spot C off of Stockton’s Hammer Lane. To get there from Manteca, take Highway 99 North to the Hammer Lane exit and head west before eventually turning left on Sampson Road and following the road the corner. The entrance is on the left.
