Do you remember “Matthew Hernandez”? He is the 16 year old stu-dent/athlete who found a wallet during the win-ter holidays several years ago with $2000 inside and made the decision to give it back to its right-ful owner. Matthew was given three times more money than he returned! Upon reading about Matthew’s honesty and integrity, local business owner Phil Waterford of Manteca Ford decided to show this teenager that integrity pays off and presented him with a $6000 college scholar-ship, a new Playstation 4, which was the hot-test gift of the season, and paid job internship at Manteca Ford.Matthew has gradu-ated from Lathrop High School and will attend Delta College next year. He hopes to transfer to a four-year university to further his education and major in criminal justice. During his time work-ing at Manteca Ford, he earned enough money to buy a small pickup truck and install a new sound system. The last part of Manteca Ford’s com-mitment was a $6000 scholarship for his col-lege education. Water-ford was proud  to keep his promise and gave Hernandez the check. Phil stated, “There are always rewards for good choices, bad choices there are typically conse-quences. In life, it liter-ally pays to do the right thing.”
