It might not be the best time to open up a newspaper and read about the auto companies and their financial woes if you’re in the market for a new car.

But regardless of what happens in Detroit or Washington, Cabral Chrysler Jeep Dodge is still running strong after 52 years thanks to community support and a dedicated customer base that attracts buyers across the generations.

And the recent addition of the Dodge line to round out the dealership’s existing Chrysler products has only helped propel the dealership’s sales numbers and carry them through a time when almost everybody else is drying up.

“It’s sad to look around and see people that we know that are going away – that aren’t going to be around anymore,” longtime Cabral Sales Associate Marty Steves said. “We’re fortunate that things here at Cabral are going well, and we’re not going anywhere anytime soon.”

Refined classics like the Cummins Dodge Ram Diesel – which has long sat at the head table and has followers that display a fierce loyalty – have helped open the doors to new buyers that have long cherished the throwback styling of the new Dodge products and the new spins they’re putting on old favorites.

While the motor on the Cummins Ram three-quarter and full-ton pickups is warranted for five years and 100,000 miles, Steves said it isn’t uncommon for people to come in and buy a new truck with their old one – some with hundreds of thousands of miles on them – serving as their transportation down to the lot.

Seeing a Cummins that is more than 10 years old, he said, isn’t an uncommon sight.

And when you throw in modern standards and upgrades to existing systems – like a 6-cylinder motor that puts out an amazing 650 pound-feet of torque at only 15 miles an hour – the total package that the truck provides for someone pulling a load starts come into focus.

“It’s a truck that has set the standard, and continues to raise that bar,” Steves said. “We’re proud to have vehicles like this on the lot, and we’re happy that we have customers like the ones here in Manteca that continue to support us here.”

The 2009 Dodge Ram Cummins Diesels comes in a variety of models – all of which brand new come with a standard 5-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty and a 3-year, 36,000-mile full coverage warranty.
