Fisher speaker for Ripon Garden Club Wednesday

RIPON — Mike Fisher is the guest speaker for the 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, meeting of the Ripon Garden Club at the American Legion Hall, 206 Stockton Ave., Ripon.

Fisher is a lifelong Ripon resident. He attended both Ripona (K-6) and Ripon Elementary (7-8) Schools, and Ripon High School. Fisher graduated from Ripon High, having participated in three varsity sports as well as Future Farmers of America (FFA). He is currently president of the Ripon School Board of Trustees .

Fisher attended the University of California at Davis and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science. He was recognized for his contributions to the university and awarded the Outstanding Senior award upon graduation. Following graduation he pursued graduate work at UC Davis in the field of education, and earned a teaching credential

His wife of 18 years, Janeen Fisher (Winters), is also a lifelong resident of Ripon and also attended Ripon Unified schools. They have two sons and a new baby girl.

Fisher spends his days working at Fisher Nursery on Austin Road. Fisher Nursery is a family-owned indoor tropical plant nursery that has been in Ripon for over 40 years. It is one on the largest of its kind in the country with sales throughout California, the north and southwest. He handles the day-to-day operations of the nursery.
