Manteca offers swim lessons, public pool use

Interested in scuba diving? Curious about what lifeguard training involves? Want to swim laps for exercise? Need to learn how to swim? Or do you just want to splash around and have fun?
The City of Manteca is offering fee classes and pool time to do all of that once again this summer.
Swim lessons
You have the option of group or private swim lessons. Group lessons are offered on eight different skill levels with five programs designed for those 6 and older as well as three younger age specific programs for those nine months to three years, three to five years, and four to six years.
There are three sessions remaining. They cover two- week periods, Monday through Thursday for eight lessons at 35 minutes each. The cost is $32  for Manteca residents and $42 for non-residents. Lessons take place at the Lincoln Park and Manteca High swimming pools. The upcoming sessions are July 1-11, July 15-25, and July 20-Aug. 8. Registration for upcoming sessions closes at 5 p.m. on the prior Thursday. That means this Thursday at 5 p.m. is the deadline for the two-week sessions starting on Monday.
Private swim lessons for youth or adults are available at the Manteca High pool for $100 for residents and $110 for non-residents. It consists of four Monday through Thursday 40-minute lessons. There are sessions available on Saturday for private lessons.
Junior lifeguard
& scuba diving
A junior lifeguard clinics for ages 10 through 14 is planned at the Lincoln Pool on Saturday, July 19. Both sessions are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost of a session is $20 for residents and $30 for non-residents.
Introduction to scuba classes for those 10 and older is scheduled for Sundays,  July 21,  from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Manteca High pool. The cost is $10 or $20 for non-residents.
Public & lap swimming
The Lincoln Pool is open through Aug. 11 for public swimming. The hours are 1 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. as well as Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Lincoln Pool is located on Powers Avenue across from the fire station south of East Yosemite Avenue and behind Lincoln School.
Children 4 and under are free while youth 14 to 17 are $2, adults 18 to 61 are $3 and seniors 62 and up are $2. Family passes good for up to four people can be purchased for the season for $60 at the Manteca Parks & Recreation office, 252 Magnolia Ave.
Lap swimming for all ages takes place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Manteca Park and Rec. No pre-registration is required. You simply pay the $2 per session fee at the entrance to Manteca High swimming pool. A minimum of five swimmers are needed for the session to take place.
Lincoln Pool can also be rented for a minimum of two hours with lifeguards included for summer parties. The first two hours for groups of up to 50 people is $120 with each additional hour at $60. Groups of 51 to 10 people are $150 for the first two hours and $60 per additional hour. For information on pool rental contact Toni Lungren at 456-8627.
