New Years cheer in Turlock

It is no secret that New Year’s Eve can be an expensive night. Most residents of Turlock buy their drinks in advance and navigate towards house parties to celebrate with friends and family members.

But for those looking for nightlife thrills and intend to make the most of the night outside the comfort of home, there are a few options open to the public.

For Turlock residents wishing to celebrate their lives, health and resolutions, a few local bars and restaurants are offering festive services this New Year’s Eve.

For those with luxurious taste, Toscana’s at the Tower will host a New Year’s Eve Party beginning at 8 p.m. The party will include a DJ, dancing, and a champagne midnight toast for $10 in advance, or $20 at the door. Apart from most restaurants and bars, car rides will also be provided this year for Turlock residents and close neighbors of the area starting at $15 per person, and $20 per couple.

For those looking to stay up until just midnight, Grizzly Rock Café may be your desired destination or pre-party eatery. Dancing will take place to music provided by DJ Renee, and will include a midnight toast to welcome the new year.

“Usually everyone goes home by 12:15 or 12:30,” owner Frank Sanders said. “We are open until 1 a.m. and hope that everyone has a safe and joyous holiday.”

For a more casual approach, Wellington’s Pub and Restaurant will also provide music and dancing beginning at 10 p.m. In order to secure a spot, reservations are encouraged. The celebration will last until 2 a.m.

Vintage Lounge and Piano Bar and Dust Bowl Tap Room will unfortunately be closed due to the holiday.

“We are normally closed on Mondays,” Dust Bowl’s Michelle Peter said. “So we are giving our staff a holiday on Tuesday, too. We’ll open again by Jan. 2, 2013.”

Partying hard doesn’t mean that you can’t party smart. If you intend to leave the home or business you have been drinking at, AAA now offers a Tipsy Tow services that will take you and your car home for free beginning at 6 p.m. Monday and running  to 6 a.m. Tuesday in Northern California.

Even if you are not a member, AAA will offer their services for up to 10 miles. Passengers, hosts, and restaurant managers can call 800-222-4357 (AAA-help) for a free “Tipsy Tow.”
