New Years Eve celebrations throughout the Sierra Nevada range are on tap from Lake Tahoe to as far south as Mammoth Lakes just off Highway 395.

Manteca soloist Christina and her band member husband Bobby will be on stage at the Mammoth Lakes Village with their Bump City Reunion Band.  Playing in the middle of the village, the horn driven band will be performing for its second year with selections ranging from Casey and the Sunshine Band to Tower of Power and Lydia Pense and Cold Blood as well as Aretha Franklin.

The band expects to find snow with large heaters to keep them warm for the hundreds of revelers filling the fields around them.  Last year hundreds have attended.  Drummer Dave Tanner is the drummer.  He holds a masters degree in music from the University of the Pacific and is the band and choir director at St. Mary’s High School in Stockton.

Band member Matt Martinez has the distinction of being in the Blues Hall of Fame and has been referred to as the “salt of the earth.” They will begin playing at 6 p.m. tonight, Wednesday.

The all-ages even begin at a 6 p.m. and include a starry night cable car ride.  Those in attendance should upload on a car between 5 and 5:45 p.m.  A “spectacular surf and turf buffet dinner” and music and dancing for the young and old alike is on tap. The midnight toast will include sparkling apple cider for youngsters.

Cost for the evening is $50 for adults that includes a cable car ticket. Children’s tickets are $34 and  those already having ski lift tickets will pay a reduced charge.  There will also be a New Year’s Eve fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. in the village.  For more information, check out www.squaw.com/new-years-eve-high-camp.
