MODESTO . (AP) — Police say one person was killed and seven injured when gunfire broke out at a warehouse party.
Modesto police spokeswoman Heather Graves said someone opened fire in the warehouse parking lot at about 3 a.m. Sunday.
Police say the event was meant to be an after-party for Modesto’s Xclamation! Festival, known locally as X-Fest, though festival organizers say the party had no official connection to the outdoor concert.
Police say most of the victims and witnesses had fled by the time officers arrived.
But 25-year old Zachary McGee was found at the scene with gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at a hospital.
The seven others who were shot appeared at the hospital on their own. Two remained hospitalized, five others were treated and released.
