2 laid off officers land Hayward jobs

Two recently laid off Manteca police officers have been hired by the City of Hayward with a higher wage scale than they had in Manteca.

Zach Faye who had come to Manteca with an outstanding record of service from Ripon and Russ Sherrock who had been a seasoned officer in Merced are both back on the street serving the Hayward community.

Ten other officers are still looking for work hoping the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department will open its ranks for them in their patrol division in the near future.

The patrol division in Manteca has remained fairly constant only because motorcycle traffic officers, detectives and members of the street crimes and gang units have gone back into black and white patrol units.
