2008 Olympics BMX bronze medalist appearing at crab feed

Donnie Robinson, a  2008 Olympic Bronze Medalist, is attending Saturday’s Anderson’s 209 Crab Feed to raise funds to construct  the Spreckels Recreation Park BMX course.

Robinson is featured on a McDonald’s bag for BMX. He is also sponsored by Kellogs, Hewlett-Packard and other firms. Robinson is bringing his bronze medal to the dinner.

The all-you-can-eat marinated crab feed on Saturday features dining, dancing, entertainment, and socializing for $40 in advance. Tickets at the door are $45.

There is a no-host bar.

The crab feed is from 5 p.m. to midnight at the MRPS Hall, 133 N. Grant St. The menu includes crab, pasta, salad, French bread and dessert. An auction and raffle will follow dinner.

Dancing is from 9 p.m. to midnight to music provided by the classic rock band Nothin’ Personal.

The Manteca organization is also sponsoring a local BMX athlete who has been chosen by the Olympic Committee to train at the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center next week.  Meghan Matthews will be 16 on Sunday which also happens to be her first day at the training facility. She is being trained for the 2010 Junior Olympics and the 2012 Olympics in London.
