RIPON – Look forward to more Fourth of July pyrotechnics from Stouffer Field.

The Ripon City Council paved the way for a second go-around last Tuesday for the community-wide event.

“It was a great success last year,” said Councilman Dean Uecker, who helped lead the efforts in bringing back the fireworks display from the edge of town at the Mistlin Sports Park to the centrally located Ripon High stadium.

He added, “We received a lot of compliments, from the police department to the (Ripon Unified) school district.”

Uecker’s request included re-establishing the Fourth of July Committee.  He was told that such plans needed OK from the council.

No surprise, elected officials voted 4-0 for the 2012 fireworks show. Councilman Charlie Gay was absent.

“It’ll be the same as last year’s (event),” said Uecker. “The same people have expressed an interest of staying on the committee.”

The Fourth of July Committee also managed a successful fundraising campaign. So much so that some of the leftover money will help subsidize this year’s Independence Day event, according to Uecker.

Fourth of July for this year is on a Wednesday. The parade is scheduled to again take place along Main Street, with the traditional family fun spilling into Ripon Elementary School.
