Bronson, Drain may face recall

Answering to felony charges in San Joaquin County Superior Court this week is just one of the problems facing embattled Manteca Unified School District trustees Ashley Drain and Alexander Bronson.

The group pushing to recall the two has been busy collecting signatures. They reportedly have enough against Drain and are within a handful of having enough to recall Bronson.

The two are facing felony charges that they lied under penalty of perjury where they resided when they filed nomination papers in August. They both initially listed the same Manteca address while filing their paperwork a day apart. Both resided in Stockton at the time within the boundaries of the Stockton Unified School District.

Some defenders have argued they are young and inexperienced and may have been confused. The question is straight forward: Where do you reside? Investigators found the people, who actually live at the Manteca address have been there for close to 10 years and have never heard of Drain or Bronson. Also Bronson and Drain said they did not know each other at the time. If that’s the case, how could they have come up with the same address as they were neither roommates or even associated?

In Drain’s case, she was running to represent Lathrop and part of Weston Ranch on the school board and not Manteca proper.
