Got something you want to say to your congressman?

Congressman Jeff Denham, R- Turlock is staging two mobile district office dates in Manteca and one in Ripon during March. The Manteca dates are on Fridays March 7 and 21 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Manteca Chamber of Commerce office, 183 W. North Street, Suite 6. The Ripon date is Tuesday, March 25, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ripon Chamber of Commerce office.

If high speed rail is a hot topic for you, Denham is the man to talk to.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of the Inspector General on Wednesday announced the initiation of an audit of the Federal Railroad Administration’s  (FRA) high speed intercity passenger rail grant amendment and oversight processes in response to a request made by Chairman Denham of the Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials.

“The FRA has twice altered their grant agreement with the California High-Speed Rail Authority, putting taxpayer dollars at risk,” Denham said in a news release. “I’ve received no reassurance that they won’t repeat the process, and their recklessness has put other California funding priorities at risk. As I and the subcommittee work to protect taxpayer funds, this audit will be another tool to ensure the FRA is doing the same.”
