The final tally from the homeless count conducted in Manteca in January puts the unsheltered homeless count at 88 with 57 of those being male and 32 females. Of those, two were children. The count included six veterans.

Responses the census takers got indicated 51 percent attributed their situation to substance abuse, 16 percent to mental issues, and 11 percent to a combination of the two.
