In an area with a car show practically every weekend, the gatherings can become routine.
Pete Paulsen’s annual Hot Rod Party this Sunday, Oct. 12, is anything but routine.
The man who opened the original House of Wheels in 1961 in San Leandro back in the glory days of cruising and hot rods is again opening his French Camp ranch for one of Northern California’s most popular gathering of car enthusiast.
There will be an entire day starting at 9 a.m. of tri-tip BBQ and Rock N Roll music by DJs Johnny “T” and Wolfie, along with special guest Movie/ TV actress Cindy Williams of American Graffiti and Shirley & Laverne fame The Port City Roller girls will also be in attendance. There will also be a silent auction, awards and a raffle.
Paulsen will display his award winning 40’ Ford pickup along with the other entries. The truck has won over a hundred trophies and just recently won “Best of Show” at the Manteca Fire Station Auto Show.
Car registration is between 8 and 11 a.m. and is $35. General admission is $5, under 6 and over 66 are free. His ranch is at 1504 Bowman Road near the San Joaquin River. His website has directions.
This year’s Hot Rod Party benefits St. Joseph’s Hospital Cancer Center and Hawaii Children’s Cancer Center.
