Ben Theiss’ quick assessment of the inaugural Heller Lipsett Memorial Run, which took place Sunday:
“Everyone had a good time and didn’t get hurt or lost,” wrote the McParland Elementary School teacher and race director.
The Memorial, which featured a 5-kilometer and 1-mile run, had a few more highlights than that.
Javier Macial won the 5-kilometer race by more than 45 seconds, crossing the finish line in 16 minutes, 29 seconds.
He was followed by Trevor Crippen (17:51.1), Ned Anderson (19:20.1), Gino Campiotti (20:23) and Taylor Baum (20:29.2).
In all, 320 runners took part in the two races, generating approximately $5,000 for the McParland Community Club.
