MJC seeking chain gang

Want to join a gang?

The Modesto Junior College football team needs four volunteers to serve on the 2014 “chain gang” for five home football games. Qualifications are a love of football and a commitment to attend all five home games. Benefits include a close-up view of the 2014 MJC Pirates football action among other items.

The volunteers will be responsible for manning the chains used to show the 10-yard distance needed to obtain a new set of downs. The chain gang is required to quickly realign the chains whenever the offense gets a first down. The chain gang may also be called upon to enter the field for a measurement of first downs.

This year’s MJC home games are Sept. 13 versus College of San Mateo, Sept. 27 versus Sacramento City College, Oct. 25 versus Chabot College, Nov. 1 versus Laney College and Nov. 15 versus Delta College. Kick-off is at 6 p.m. for the first four games and at 1 p.m. for the final home game.
