The popular Wednesday night bike ride out of Georges Bikes in Ripon returns this Wednesday. The ride will start at 6 p.m. and cover a 20-plus-mile loop. No word yet on the official start for the Tuesday and Thursday evening rides.

You’ll know the coordinator of this ride when you see him. George Ingerson will be the tall fellow, holding a camera up in front of the crowd at the start and barking at the front-runners to keep a moderate pace.

The Wednesday evening ride is a no-drop ride, meaning everyone starts together and finishes together, no matter your skill level.

That premise alone has turned the ride into one of the more popular bike rides in all of the Central Valley, attracting riders from all part of the San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties. Last summer, the ride enjoyed five consecutive weeks with at least 60 participants. The season-best was 69 riders.
