Manteca Police Department Police Chief Nick Obligacion and his officers are basking in the widespread media attention given to the quick resolution to the Great Tillamook Cheese Bus Caper.

In less than 60 hours after recovering the three restored Volkswagen minibuses stolen in the early hours on Saturday from the Hampton Inn parking lot in Manteca, the department along with the San Joaquin County Delta Regional Auto Theft Task Force (Delta RAT) recovered the vehicles and made arrests less than 20 hours after that.

“The joke is the RAT caught the cheese,” Obligacion quipped during Tuesday’s Manteca City Council meeting.
