The Manteca Chamber of Commerce and the City of Manteca have toyed with the idea of “welcome signs” to Manteca off and on for the past 10 years.

Proposals batted about including spending well over $100,000 and were promptly put in mothballs due to lack of funding or other reasons.

There is now a “Welcome to Manteca” sign and it’s courtesy of one of Manteca’s most successful entrepreneurs, Vince Haro.

The message is atop his billboard facing traffic as it comes off Interstate 5 onto the eastbound 120 Bypass. The bulk of the sign advertises yard cleaning and hauling business complete with his photo — a first for Haro.

Haro for years advertised his business on small signs posted throughout the countryside that simply said “Call Vince” followed by a phone number.
