Baconfest at Dell’Osso Family Farm in Lathrop takes place Saturday and Sunday, Sep. 9-10.
The weekend will be full of bacon, beer and bands and more.
Baconfest has kicked off its bacon-obsessed event with a search for Professional and Amateur Cook-Off Contestant entries. To qualify, Professional Chefs and Amateur Cooks alike are being encouraged to submit signature bacon recipes and information online at www.Baconfest.com.  Entries must be submitted before Tuesday, Aug. 1, at 5 p.m. to qualify.
Both competitions will be conducted as “Mystery Basket Style” live on stage with celebrity judges and will be emceed both days by Adam Richman, TV Personality, Host of MAN V. FOOD and other Dining and Eating Challenge Programs on the Travel Channel.
Professional chefs will compete for a Grand Prize trophy and special gourmet experience at The French Laundry with an overnight stay at Vallagio Inn and Spa in Yountville.   The winner of the Amateur cooking contest will receive $3,000 in cash.
“We’re looking for the best bacon recipes to qualify the professional and the amateur entries,” said Yvonne Sampson, who is coordinating the online entries in both categories. “What will determine selection of a professional contestant is: creative use of bacon, taste and presentation. While bacon is the star ingredient, with amateurs, it’s just as important to show off the pizzazz in their personality, key to being selected for their chance to win the Amateur Prize of $3,000 in cash.”
Eight Professional and eight Amateur Cook-Off finalists will be chosen August 1 2017.
The Amateur Cook-Off Contest will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, and Professional Chef Cook-Off Contest held on Sunday, Sept. 10, on the Main Contest Stage from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
In addition to the cook-off contests, there will be eating contests, dozens of Bacon Alley Food Vendors selling bacon-charged food and 20 microbrews with the hottest selling beers to pair with bacon dishes. Entertainment will be going on two different stages on both Saturday and Sunday with live bands and several other performance acts as well.
Baconfest will feature unique Arts & Crafts vendors, Wine, a Bacon “Bar” and the best Bloody Mary’s on the planet. Parking is Free as are popular kid’s activities like the Dell’Osso Express Train, Kiddie Roller Coaster, Spinning Pumpkin and Mini Ferris Wheel rides, Bounce Pillows, Pedal Car Speedway and more.  Contest entry, event information and tickets are available now online at www.baconfest.com.  Tickets are $25 for Adults (15 and older) $12.50 for children.
