A non-competitive dog walk dubbed “Bark for Life” to help raise money for the American Cancer Society takes place on Saturday, Aug. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.at Manteca’s Library Park.

The American Cancer Society Bark for Life honors the caregiving qualities of canine companions. It is a non-competitive walk event for dogs and their owners to raise funds and awareness in the fight against cancer.  By supporting Bark For Life, you help the American Cancer Society save lives and help move closer to a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

Among the event’s features:

• One of the featured tents will be a Puppy Rummage Sale.  They are asking for any pet lovers that have new or gently used items they no longer need to donate them to the event.  Participants that day can then make purchases to help raise money for the Bark For Life.  Donations can be dropped off at Main St. Café located at 1464 W. Yosemite Ave, or by calling Jakkie Arellano at (209) 679-4069.

• A Doggie Fashion/Talent Show where contestants can show off their pups in their most unique outfits or highlight their talent.

• Live musical entertainment by local artists

There will also be space for teams to set up their own fundraising booths similar to the traditional Relay For Life event.  Additional information can be found at www.relayforlife.org/barkmantecaca or by attending a Bark For Life meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 6:30 p.m. at Main St. Café.
