The holiday luncheon and craft faire that St. Anthony of Padua School has been hosting every year for the last 44 years is not just about food or original creations by the best crafters around.
It’s also about friends and families getting together, catching up on the latest news and strengthening friendships, as well as business associates taking time off from the rat race.
There was, for example, Tupperware regional head honcho Mary Moller who treated her sales associates to the holiday luncheon. She was just one of several employers in town who also bought tickets to Wednesday’s luncheon and craft faire for their staff.
Many of the guests were three-generation families, like Larry Bogle who cuddled grandson Dalton Benter, 8 months, at one of the linen-covered round dining tables in the school gym where the annual fund-raiser was held. Joining them at the table was Baby Dalton’s mom, Krysta.
Beverly Steves of Oakdale’s Steves’ Chevrolet, was all smiles as she walked around the tables greeting friends she has not seen in a while.
Manteca Realtor Carol Bragan enjoyed the luncheon with her mother-in-law Margaret Boubelik, 94. After enjoying the ravioli meal prepared by the three-generation Quirolo family – Frank, his son Mario, and grandson Gianni – Bragan and Boubelik browsed through the nearly two-dozen craft booths that featured a range of original creations by talented local crafters.
For many of the 300 guests, this was an opportunity to jump-start their holiday shopping, plus an excellent chance to purchase one-of-a-kind gifts for loved one at very reasonable prices.
As has been the tradition at this annual school fund-raiser, members of the eighth-grade class bused the tables while some of the students’ parents served the food and poured the drinks for the guests.
