LODI – Bluegrass & Wine will be a pickin’ and sippin’ good time at the San Joaquin County Historical Museum on Saturday, Oct. 1.

Several bluegrass bands will perform throughout the afternoon event on the museum grounds, and fourteen wineries from the Lodi area and El Dorado County will pour their wines for tasting. The afternoon will include light appetizers and a silent wine auction. The event will be from 2 to 6 p.m. at the museum inside Micke Grove Park south of Lodi. Tickets are $35 each.

While wandering through the museum, visitors can enjoy the bluegrass bands pickin’ plenty of tunes. Bands include the Horse and Buggy Music, Golden River Riders, Mokelumne River Band and The Brothers Strong. The wineries pouring their best include Borra Vineyards, Peirano Estate, Woodbridge Winery, Michael David Winery, Jeremy Wine Company, Heritage Oak Winery, Viaggio Winery, Klinker Brick Winery, Cycles Gladiator, Watts Winery, Ironstone Vineyards, Fitzgerald Winery and Ursa Vineyards.

For tickets, call (209) 331-2055. With tickets purchased in advance and in possession, the park’s $5 entrance fee will be waived.

This event is the museum’s second major fundraiser to “Raise the Barn.” The barn is the new education building that the museum Docent Council needs to provide desperately needed space for the museum youth education programs including Farm to Fork, Museum Youth Camp, Valley Days and Pioneer School. The Bluegrass & Wine event is one of several fundraisers including a car show, pizza nights and yard sales in the docents’ “Raise the Barn” campaign.
