Board recognizing Shasta teachers accomplishment

She’s the 2010 recipient of the Cortopassi Family Foundation Excellence in Mathematic Award.

Tonight, Shasta School teacher Linda Davis will be recognized for that prestigious honor by the Manteca Unified School District during the 7 p.m. board meeting.

Each year, the Cortopassi Family awards one math teacher and one science teacher in San Joaquin County, with Davis’ selection announced last month at the San Joaquin County B-C Science Olympiad Finals in Stockton.

Davis, who was an algebra teacher at Sierra High last year – she was pink slipped due to budget cuts – but was rehired by the district earlier this school year.

In other agenda items:
•The board will recognize the winner of the California Interscholastic Federation’s Model Coach Award.
•Trustees are scheduled to pay tribute to the Educator-of-the-Year Award winners.
•In closed session, the board could fill the director of facilities position.
•Staff will recommend that the board approve some meeting change, moving next month’s session from May 11, Tuesday, to May 19, Monday, and proposing a special meeting for April 27.
