It’s the biggest fundraiser of the year for Give Every Child a Chance.
And it just so happens give those who participate are treated to an experience that is far and away different from the traditional fundraisers for non-profits.
On Saturday, Feb. 27, organizers are expecting to draw 100 teams of five bowlers each for what has become their biggest fundraiser of the year – with a $250 entry fee for each of the teams. Additional donations are accepted above and beyond that depending on the generosity of the businesses or the residents that have already began soliciting pledges for the 11th annual event at the Strikezone and Family Fun Center. Proceeds make it possible for free tutoring services for over 2,000 youth.
“This year we’re blessed with the gift of Mrs. Raymus that allows us to use this fine facility free of charge,” said Give Every Child a Chance Executive Director Carol Davis. “It’s truly a big family fundraiser where people come out and have a good time while making a difference in the lives of the youth that need help with their after-school studies.”
Named in honor of longtime local developer and philanthropist Antone E. Raymus – who came up with the idea for Give Every Child a Chance –the event is designed for five-person teams to not only cover the $250 entry fee, but also go out into the community and raise additional funds for free after-school tutoring program.
And while the entry fees and the pledges are crucial to the success of the program – especially during these trying economic times – there are also a handful of sponsorship levels that range from the $5,000 “Perfect Game” which includes equal billing on all of the advertising as well as bowling for 30 or sponsorship of six individual teams.
For those with a little bit less to spend, the “Alley” sponsorship secures a lane for two bowlers complete with two event shirts and a sponsor certificate.
“With the way that things are going in Sacramento, we’re really forced to turn to the community in order to keep Mr. Raymus’ dream alive,” Davis said. “We’re hoping for a great turnout this year.”
