The younger brother of Thursday’s murder victim said he warned his sister and registered nurse Tevanie Deanne Tellez, 35, her husband was going to kill her and she would leave her children without a mother if it happened.

Kevin Lantz, 34, said he also warned police that his brother-in-law Jessee Tellez, 48, was going to kill his sister, because of abuse he witnessed for the last year and a half.  He said he was told there was nothing that could be done until an actual threat was made with a weapon. Tellez has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is due in court Tuesday for an arraignment.

He said she was attempting to obtain a restraining order against her husband when she was brutally stabbed to death on the front lawn of a triplex she rented near Sequoia School.

Lantz also said that Tellez had taken one of the children to Mexico with him as a leverage to get his wife to follow him across the border.

Lantz said his brother-in-law was a convicted felon who had served time in several prisons around the country.  He added that Tellez is asking to send the children to his relatives in the Los Angeles area or in Mexico.

He is a heroin addict who was stabbed in the jugular vein and in the heart while in prison, Lantz said.  Tellez was employed at the San Joaquin County Hospital for the last eight years, he said.
