Caltrans lists road work on freeways, highways

The following are area Caltrans road work advisories for the coming week:



I-205 from 11th Street to Tom Paine Slough

Caltrans will construct auxiliary lanes and install a changeable message sign on Interstate 205 (I-205).  Work will occur as follows:

• The #2 (middle) and #3 (right) lanes on westbound I-205 from 11th Street to just west of MacArthur Drive will close beginning Monday, August 15, 2011, through Friday, Aug.19, from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m.;

• The westbound off-ramp to MacArthur Drive will close beginning Sunday, Aug. 14, , through Thursday, Aug.18from 8 p.m. until  4 a.m.;

• The #2 (middle) and #3 (right) lanes on eastbound I-205 from 11th Street to just west of MacArthur Drive will close beginning Monday, Aug. 15, , through Friday, Aug. 19, from 9 p.m. until 9a.m.;

• The #1 (left) and #2 (middle) lanes on eastbound I-205 just west of Tom Paine Slough will close beginning Sunday, Aug.14,  through Thursday, Aug. 18, , from 9 p.m. until 1p.m.; and

• The #1 (left) and #2 (middle) lanes on westbound I-205 just east of MacArthur Drive will close beginning Sunday, Aug. 14, through Thursday, Aug. 18, from 4 p.m. until 4 a.m.

Motorists should expect 15 minute delays.  Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.



Highway 99 from Milgeo Ave. to Highway 219

Caltrans will construct a median barrier and pave the roadway on State Route 99 (SR-99) from SR-219 to Milgeo Avenue. Lane restrictions are as follows:

• Southbound: The median, left shoulder, #1 (left) and #2 (middle) lanes from Milgeo Avenue to Hammett Road will close beginning Sunday, Aug. 14, through Friday, Aug. 19, from 7 p.m. until 6a.m.;

• Northbound: The median, left shoulder, #1 (left) and # 2 (middle) lanes from SR-219 to Milgeo Avenue will close beginning Sunday, Aug. 14, through Friday, Aug. 19, from 7:00 p.m. until 6 a.m.

Motorists should expect 10 minute delays.  Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.



Highway 99 Stanislaus County

Caltrans will close the median, left shoulder, #1 (left) and #2 (middle) lanes on State Route 99 from the Stanislaus/San Joaquin County line to the K Street overcrossing. 

Work will begin on Sunday, Aug. 14, through Friday, Aug.19, from 7 p.m. until 7a.m.

Crews will replace slabs in this location.

Motorists should expect 20 minute delays.  Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.



River Drive closure on I-5 in Stockton

Caltrans will close River Drive at the Interstate 5 (I-5) undercrossing. 

Crews will close the road on Monday, Aug. 22, and are scheduled to reopen it in March of 2012.

This closure is necessary to widen I-5 over the Calaveras River. 

During the duration of the closure Plymouth Road will be restriped for two-way traffic from Telegraph Avenue to River Drive.  A signed detour will be in place. 



I-5 from Hammer to Alpine In Stockton
Caltrans will grind out the rumble strips in preparation for upcoming highway construction on Interstate 5 (I-5).  Work will occur as follows:

• The #3 (right) lane on northbound and southbound I-5 from Benjamin Holt Drive to Hammer Lane will close beginning Tuesday, Aug. 16, through Thursday, Aug. 18, from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. and

• The #3 (right) lane on southbound I-5 from Benjamin Holt Drive to Alpine Avenue will close beginning Thursday, Aug. 18, at 8 p.m. until Friday, Aug. 19, at 6 a.m.

Motorists should expect 10 minute delays.  Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.

The $122.1 million I-5 North Stockton Improvements Project will add High Occupancy Vehicle lanes, auxiliary lanes and soundwalls, from Hammer Lane to south of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.  The project also reconstructs the existing six-lane freeway with continuously reinforced concrete pavement between Hammer Lane and Country Club Boulevard.  The contractor for the project is R & L Brossmer Inc. of Walnut Creek.



Highway 99 from Highway 26 to Woodbridge Road

Caltrans will treat the bridge decks on State Route 99 (SR-99) from SR-26/Fremont Street to Woodbridge Road.  No two consecutive on or off-ramps will be closed at the same time.  Work will occur as follows:

• The northbound off-ramp and the southbound on-ramp at SR-26/Fremont Street will close beginning Sunday, Aug. 14,   through Friday, Aug, 19, from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m.;

• The #1 (left) and #2 (right) lanes on eastbound and westbound SR-26/Fremont Street at SR-99 will alternately close beginning Sunday, Aug. 14, through Friday, Aug. 19, from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m.;

• The southbound off-ramp at Turner Road and the southbound on-ramp from Woodbridge Road will close beginning Sunday Aug. 14, through Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m.; and

• The #1 (left), #2 (middle) and #3 (right) lanes on southbound SR-99 at the Mokelumne River will alternately close beginning Sunday, Aug. 14, through Friday, Aug. 19, from 7  p.m. until 6  a.m.



Hammer Lane to Sacramento County Line
Caltrans will replace slabs on Interstate 5 (I-5) from Hammer Lane to San Joaquin/Sacramento County line.  No two consecutive on or off-ramps will be closed at the same time.  Work will occur as follows:

• The #2 (middle) and # 3 (right) lanes on northbound I-5 from Eight Mile Road to State Route 12 (SR-12) will close beginning Sunday, Aug. 14, through Friday, Aug.19, 2011, from 7 p.m. until 60 a.m.;

• The #1 (left) and #2 (middle) lanes on southbound I-5 from SR-12 to Eight Mile Road will close beginning Sunday, Aug.14, through Friday, Aug. 19, from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m.;

• The #2 (right) lane on northbound I-5 from SR-12 to the San Joaquin/Sacramento County line will close beginning Sunday, Aug. 14, through Friday, Aug. 19, from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m.;

• The northbound and southbound on and off-ramps between SR-12 and Walnut Grove Road will alternately close beginning Sunday, Aug.14, through Friday, Aug. 19, from 9 p.m. until 5a.m.;

• The #1 (left) lane on southbound I-5 from the San Joaquin/Sacramento County line to SR-12 will close beginning Sunday, Aug.14, at 8:00 p.m. until Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, from 8 p.m. until 6a.m.

Motorists should expect 20 minute delays.  Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.



Highway 88 at Carson Pass

Caltrans will work to repair the mountain slope at the Carson Pass, east of Kirkwood, near Red Lake Road.  This project is necessary in order to improve safety at this location by decreasing the rockfall activity and resulting debris from entering the roadway.

One-way traffic control is currently in effect at the Carson Pass from just west of the National Forest Boundary to just east of the vista point and will remain for the duration of the project.

Continuing on Monday, Aug. 14, crews will close the highway daily, Monday through Friday, from 10  a.m. until 1 p.m.  Blasting and slope removal activities will occur daily during closures.  The full closure is necessary to ensure the safety of both workers and motorists.  This work is currently scheduled to be completed by the end of September.

Motorists should expect 15 minute delays during the one-way traffic control and at least two hour delays during the full closures.  Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.
