Car catches fire inside Arlington Court garage

Manteca Firefighters responded to a structure fire on Arlington Court on Tuesday afternoon involving a fully involved car fire.

Upon arrival, they found a single-story family residence with heavy black smoke emitting from the garage area. Firefighters made entry into the garage, where they located a fully involved car fire. Firefighters began immediate fire attack, and were able to extinguish the car fire and surrounding areas of the garage where the fire had extended. The house and attic were then checked for further fire extension, but none was found.

: Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at a care facility on North Union Road early Tuesday morning.

Upon arrival, they made contact with the staff and began to investigate. Firefighters discovered that a wall-mounted heating unit had caught on fire in one of the rooms. One of the staff members was able to contain the fire using a portable ABC fire extinguisher. Firefighters ensured the fire was completely extinguished, and checked the wall and immediate area for fire extension.

: Firefighters responded to a report of a smoke detector activation on North Fremont Sunday evening.

Upon arrival, they found smoke throughout the structure from a cooking fire. Firefighters ensured the fire was extinguished, and checked the immediate area for further fire extension.

Positive pressure ventilation was used to clear the residence from residual smoke.

• SOUTHBOUND HIGHWAY 99 AT COTTAGE AVENUE FIRE: Firefighters were dispatched to a grass fire in the median of southbound Highway 99 near the Cottage Avenue overcrossing early Sunday morning.

Upon arrival, they found an oleander fire in the center median. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the immediate area without further fire extension. The cause of the fire was undetermined.

• NORTH UNION ROAD FIRE: Firefighters responded to an outdoor fire on North Union Road late Saturday evening.

Upon arrival, they found a small haystack pile on fire along the fence line near the city’s Parks Yard. Firefighters pulled a booster line to extinguish the fire and secured the area. Witnesses said they had seen juveniles starting the fire with a lighter and then fleeing the scene.
