The Central Valley Early Iron Car Club bought new bicycles and toys for the Marines’ Toys for Tots Christmas endeavor.
This year the club that meets every Wednesday at Chubby’s Restaurant in Manteca presented the Marine Corps with 17 bikes and other toys for less fortunate children.
Al Tribuzio said he collects raffle money from the members to bank funds for the purchase of the bikes. Whoever wins the pot is promised another $50 if he brings in a new bike for a kid in need, he added. Wednesday morning the pot reached $150 and the group was still looking forward to next week’s omelets and eggs over easy with some ordering a stack of pancakes and eggs.
The men are mostly grandparents and have enjoyed the thrill of seeing their own children and grandchildren react at seeing a new bike setting next to a living room Christmas tree left by Santa in their heart and soul giving effort.
