LATHROP – The drawing for the sporty red Camaro, with all proceeds going to the Lathrop Relay for Life American Cancer Society, will be held this evening at USA Motors.

The used-car dealership located on North Harlan Road just across from the Hampton Inn is playing host to the monthly Lathrop Chamber of Commerce mixer. During the mixer, which is also held in conjunction with USA Motors’ annual customer appreciation event, the winner of the car will be drawn. Tickets at $20 pop will be available in the evening before the drawing.

The mixer will begin at 5:30 p.m. There will be free hot dogs for guests plus live entertainment provided by the Mike Torres Band of Lathrop which has been lending their music in the last three years the Ramseys have been donating a car for the Lathrop Relay for Life.

One does not need to be present to win. There are only 500 tickets for the drawing which will be held at 8 p.m.

The prize is an automatic 2001 Camaro with just 35,000 miles with a V6 cylinder.

The Lathrop Relay for Life will be held the weekend of Aug. 11-12 at Valverde Community Park on Fifth Street.

Last year’s winner of the Smart car that was offered in the drawing bought only one ticket at the last minute. The winner was a volunteer for Lathrop Relay. The first year the drawing was held, the car went to the Lathrop Youth Focus whose name was placed in the ticket purchased by a supporter of the group.
