Cub Scouts Pack 423 of Manteca has several plans in the works for the upcoming year.

Included is a trip aboard the U.S.S. Hornet, the aircraft carrier museum docked at the historic Alameda Point.

The U.S.S. Hornet is a part of history, involving World War II and Apollo 11. The latter was the first moon-landing mission for NASA, consisting of astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins.

“We went there last year but not everyone was able to make it,” said Arnold Urbina, who helps out with the Cub Scouts at Sequoia Heights Baptist Church.

In order to make the trip available, Pack 423 is planning a benefit car wash on Sunday, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the parking lot of Golden West School, 1031 N. Main St.

 Donations will be accepted.

Pack 423 is part of the Greater Yosemite Council / Boy Scouts of America consisting of Tracy, Mountain House, Lathrop, Weston Ranch, Ripon, Manteca and Escalon.

The Cub Scouts handles youngsters from age 7 and up to sixth grade.

In addition, Urbina said hot dogs and soft drinks will be available during this time.
