A 41-year-old Manteca motorist was charged with manslaughter Sunday night following an 11 p.m. hit and run crash that claimed the life of a 74-year-old Modesto man at the Lathrop Road off ramp from Highway 99.
It was determined by CHP officers that a 2009 Ford F-150 had veered onto the right hand shoulder and collided into a 2003 Dodge Caravan where a motorist was assisting a disabled driver.  The driver of the Caravan was exiting his vehicle from the driver’s side and was hit by the pickup truck. The driver of the F-150 fled the scene and was found a short time later at his residence along with the damaged truck.
The hit and run driver was arrested for felony DUI, felony hit and run and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.  The investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have witnessed the collision is urged to contact the Stockton CHP office at 209-938-4800.
