RIPON – Ted Johnston will present an update on the park restroom facilities in need of repair, replacement and the maintenance schedule at Tuesday’s Ripon City Council meeting.

He’s the public works director. Johnston was aware of the concerns by Renee and Danny Toledo, who said they were disgusted with the recent conditions of the restrooms at Community Center and the Curt Pernice Skate Park.

They also presented photographs at the previous meeting that included feces on the floor and toilets stuffed with trash. Renee Toledo noted that the women’s restroom at the Community Center was lacking doors on the stall, toilet seats, soap, and paper towels, along with the threat of black widows.

Johnston, meanwhile, added that the same facilities had an assortment of problems including water damage to the men’s side. He noted that the aging facility might also be in need of replacement given the amount of work needed.

In addition, the city has had to make do with a shorthanded staff caused by recent budget cuts.

Elected officials will discuss this item and more during the 7 p.m. open session inside the Council Chambers, 259 N. Wilma Ave.

The agenda also includes:

•Council members possibly paying their own premiums to stay on the City’s health benefits program, which was temporarily suspended for elected leaders.

•A public hearing on the proposed city budget for the fiscal year of 2012-13.

•Council members will direct staff to prepare a notice of determination for the Jack Tone Road and Highway 99 park-and-ride project, consisting of 75 parking spaces with bicycle lockers.

•As the Ripon Redevelopment Successor Agency, they’re expected to accept the work completed by MCI Engineering Inc. for the Second Street project.
