City coordinates discounts for Manteca vehicle buyers

Workers at some of Manteca’s largest firms are getting a little extra in their upcoming paychecks - $500 off on a new vehicle.

It is part of a promotion involving Manteca’s four new auto dealers that is being coordinated by the City of Manteca’s Community Development Department’s economic development services.

The flyers distributed to employers who have agreed to allow them to go out with worker paychecks include offers for:
•$500 off after negotiating your best deal for a new vehicle from Cabral Chrysler Jeep Dodge, Suzuki GEM or Manteca Auto Plaza.
•a free $25 gas card for taking a test drive at Kia Country.
•a special gift that employees can access via the Manteca Ford website.

The offer applies to anyone who is employed in Manteca and it is good through Dec. 31, 2009.

Community Development Department Director Mark Nelson said the effort was undertaken in a bid to encourage people who are thinking about buying a new vehicle that work in town to do so in Manteca.

The city incurred no costs for the program. They coordinated the effort and had the flyers printed and distributed to those among the city’s top 75 employees who agreed to allow the flyers to be stuffed inside paycheck envelopes.

Nelson noted the more business that can be generated within Manteca’s city limits, the more people who are kept working. He also pointed out the city benefits from sales tax.
