A city refuse truck driver was trapped in the cab of his vehicle after it flipped on its side shortly after 10 a.m. Monday morning as he was turning from eastbound Heartland Drive to the southbound 2000 block of Kona Drive.

Firefighters broke out the windshield of the 70,000 pound nearly-full truck with a fire ax to extricate the driver who was transported to Doctors Hospital emergency room.  He was released some three hours later having been treated for minor injuries.

Drivers of two heavy duty tow trucks out of Stockton worked for some two hours to right the vehicle after pulling it into the roadway.  Neighbors a block away said they could feel the ground shake when the truck went over on its side.
