A brand new Jayco Motorhome sustained an estimated $7,000 in damages when a couple taking the vehicle on a test drive were rear ended by a late model Honda Accord.

The crash occurred about 2:30 p.m. near the southwest corner of Jack Tone Road and East Highway 120.

A CHP officer said the injured motorist in the Honda was a Ceres resident. She was transported to an area hospital with moderate, non-life threatening injuries.  Both air bags in the passenger compartment activated, saving her from more serious injuries.

A representative from the motorhome firm said the crash did not affect the sale because there was a duplicate Jayco unit at Manteca Trailer and Motorhome located on East Yosemite Avenue. He added that there was also a company salesman on board when the accident occurred pushing the custom model motorhome across the pedestrian crossing in front of a fruit stand.

After the injured motorist was removed and placed inside a Manteca ambulance and the RV was pulled around the corner, firefighters pushed the reportedly totaled sedan out of the highway opening that lane to afternoon traffic.  A number of vehicle crashes were reported Sunday afternoon between Manteca and the Altamont.
