Crab feeds, other benefit dinners fill calendar in coming weeks

Manteca’s busiest season of benefit dinners and crab feeds – January to March – is drawing near.

A shrimp dinner is being planned by Manteca emergency and health service workers on Saturday, Jan. 8, to benefit of the Every 15 Minutes program designed to deter students from drinking and driving.

The dinner begins at 5 p.m. at the Manteca Senior Center, 295 Cherry Lane, with a social hour followed by dinner at 6:30 and a raffle and dancing at 8 p.m.

It is being sponsored by Manteca Ambulance, Manteca Police Department, Manteca Fire Department, Lathrop-Manteca Fire Department, Lathrop Police Services and the Manteca Unified School District.

The “all you can eat” shrimp and pasta feed is $35 per person for those 21 years and older.  A disc jockey will be entertaining from 5 p.m. until midnight.  The dinner includes salad, rice, bread and wine.

Kenny Summers of P.L. Fry and Son along with Dennis King of Manteca Towing will provide safe and sober rides home.  Tickets are $35 per person and may be purchased from any of the committee members at 456-7317, 456-1834 or 858-0782.

FESM marinated crab feed Jan. 8
The FESM Marinated Crab Dinner takes place on Saturday, Jan. 8, at 230 N. Main Street, Manteca.

Dinner includes marinated cold crab, salad, pasta, bread and butter, ice cream and wine. No host cocktails are at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. Music by Alcides takes place from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Adults are $40 while children 6-12 years old are $20. For tickets call Danny or Melanie at 824-0151 or 613-1520.

MRPS cioppino crab feed Jan. 8
The MRPS Crab Cioppino Dinner takes place Saturday, Jan. 8, at the MRPS Hall, 133 N. Grant St.

Dinner includes crab cioppino, salad, rice, bread, and wine.

No host cocktails are at 6 p.m. dinner from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and dancing to live entertainment provided by the band Solsa from 8:30 p.m. to midnight.

The cost is $40 per person. No tickets are sold at the door.

Boys & Girls crab feed Jan. 15
One of the longer running crab feeds is the Manteca/Lathrop Boys & Girls Club’s 30th annual crab feed set for Saturday, Jan. 15, from 6 p.m. to midnight at the MRPS Hall, 133 N. Grant.

No host cocktails are at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and the n dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Tickets are $40 per person. They are available from the Boys & Girls Club, 545 W. Alameda St. (239-KIDS) or at the Manteca Fire Department at 1154 S. Union Road.

All proceeds will help provide programs for 1,500 youth.

The Manteca Firefighters Association will provide ride home as designated drivers.

EU High Boosters crab feed Feb. 5
The East Union High Athletic Boosters annual crab feed is Saturday, Feb. 5, at the MRPS Hall.

No host cocktails are at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., and dancing to follow. Cost is $40 per person. Live auction and 50/50 raffle will also be available.  All proceeds benefit the student athletes of East Union High School. For tickets contact EUHS administration office at (209) 858-7270
