It’s called the 31st annual Manteca Quilt & Doll Show. And for sure, there are scores of eye-popping colorful creations coming from the talented members of Manteca’s Quilters Guild.
But those are not the only attractions at the MRPS Hall on Grant Street in downtown Manteca today and Sunday. Interested in vintage quilts, quilted items and other homemade knick knacks such as tole-painted Danish chairs, one-of-a-kind tote bags and handbags, and home-décor items? The show has plenty of that to offer, not just for display only, but also for sale at very reasonable prices.
Some lucky visitors will also be able to go home with the two highly coveted quilts that will be raffled off. One was designed by internationally recognized quilt designer Alex Anderson, and the other is the handiwork of Manteca Quilters members. Raffle tickets will be sold both days at the quilt show.
Amateur and advance quilters, as well as those who are still toying over the idea of becoming a quilter, will be able to find plenty of inspirations from the dozens of quilts and soft dolls on display. A number of wearable arts are also on exhibit including one of the two creations by Manteca artist and quilt designer Judy Mullen which won top awards in the prestigious Bernina Fashion Show which premiered in the 2006 and 2007 International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas, and later was part of a traveling international tour.
If you’ve been thinking of getting started in becoming a creative piece-maker, the two-day quilt show is the place to get a jump start on things that you need such as fabrics, books, and such. A number of booths specialize in these items, plus a lot more.
Get started early on your Christmas shopping or even gift-giving shopping for such occasions as birthdays and anniversaries, in the quilt show’s boutique. One-of-a-kind gift items, from quilted wearables and handbags to doll pillows and table runners made by Manteca Quilters Guild members are all on sale here.
There will be food available both days also.
