A 25-year-old Manteca woman reportedly was shot and car jacked in her driveway in the 700 block of South Maple Avenue Thursday evening.
She was dropped off at Doctors Hospital by a friend who Manteca Police said immediately left the emergency room area.
Raquel Souza told officers she had been shot in the hip with a hand gun by a black male adult who allegedly fled in her car. The assault occurred shortly before 6 p.m. The car was located by the California Highway Patrol near Tracy on Interstate 205 just west of Paradise Road.
Officer Barry Blackburn was quoted as saying he could find no blood at the scene and the suspect is still outstanding. Sgt. Ralph Colin said the victim was treated at the hospital and released.
