Carlos Abraham Guiterrez, 19, was the murder victim from the Saturday night shooting outside the Straw Hat Pizza Parlor on North Main Street, according to the San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office.

Following a confrontation inside the restaurant, Guiterrez had left the building and returned some 20 minutes later and reportedly walked into gunfire from a suspected gang member who fired some five shots at the Manteca man.

After being shot he reportedly ran through the parking lot of the restaurant leaving a trail of blood until he finally dropped to the ground where he was pronounced dead by Manteca medics who attempted but failed to revive him

Another witness revealed that a couple of Guiterrez’ friends had gone looking for the shooter and scoured the patrons at Chuck’s Place bar in the Spreckels Shopping Center.  After failing to find the responsibles, they quickly left the building.

Friends and relatives created a memorial to Guiterrez near the street outside the restaurant leaving bouquets of flowers, religious candles, a knit hat and a religious medal along with a balloon bouquet.

The coroner conducted his autopsy on Monday morning in Stockton.

Police reported Monday that they have released as much information as possible for public review in the case.  Since it was evident that the shooting arose between two rival gangs, there is speculation that there will be some retaliation in the near future.

All the men in the restaurant had been watching UFC championship fights on closed circuit television broadcast.
