There’s a cat burglar on the prowl in Manteca.

That has prompted Manteca Police to put the public on alert as well as post a $1,000 reward leading to the successful arrest and prosecution of the responsible party.

The cat burglar entered a home in the predawn hours Tuesday morning while five people were sleeping inside and made off with electronics equipment.

Manteca Police public information officer Jason Hensley reported Tuesday afternoon that the suspect entered the residence in the 1400 block of Trailwood Avenue through a rear slider with the family members unaware a burglar was in their home.

Police could not estimate the value of the items that had been taken in the burglary.

Hensley urged anyone aware of the incident or who has any information on the suspect to please call the Manteca Police Department at (209) 456-8101.  Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 as a reward for information leading toward the arrest and conviction of the responsible suspect.  Citizens reporting information can remain anonymous through Crime Stoppers and still be eligible for the reward at www.southcountycrimestoppers.org.
