An alert citizen notified Manteca Police that a man was in the process of burglarizing a vehicle in the 700 block of Tannehill Drive on Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
The witness said the man was removing items from a parked car and it didn’t appear that he owned them.  Officers responded and found the vehicle driving in the neighborhood of Brenda Lee Street.   Officers Dave Brown and Jason Hensley made a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 1300 block of Woodward Avenue.
Officers determined that the suspect had stolen a flat screen TV from a vehicle.  It also turned out that the suspect — Gerald Anderson, 41, of Oakdale — was also driving a stolen vehicle out of Modesto.  Anderson was also on parole for assault.
Anderson was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, stolen property,  theft and had a suspected drivers license.  He is behind held without bail because he is on parole.  He was transported to the San Joaquin Jail.
The stolen property was returned to the owner.
Police reminded citizens not to leave items of value in vehicles as this is the season the criminals will shop your neighborhood for items easily stolen.  People need to report all suspicious activities immediately to the police department.
Detectives will be looking at this suspect to determine if he is responsible for a number of burglaries and thefts in Manteca during the past few weeks.
