Manteca Police Street Crimes Unit Sergeant Chris Mraz took down another theft suspect in a foot chase Wednesday morning in Manteca’s Industrial Park following thefts from Walmart.

Officers arrested a bare-foot Justin Ornellas, an 18-year-old transient, on Industrial Park Drive east of South Main Street about 10 a.m. after being notified of thefts by a store security officer.

Ornellas had allegedly taken several bottles of alcohol and shampoo and had been taken to the security office by a store guard.  He had reportedly slipped off his flip flops and ran out of the store with security officer observing his direction of flight.

The Street Crimes Unit was already on the street and converged on the South Main Street area near the Highway 120 Bypass where Sgt. Mraz spotted the suspect running and chased him down to make the arrest.
