Brandon James Gann, 30, who had been sought by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s deputies, has been arrested in Oakdale for questioning in the shooting death of Daniel Martinez, 26, of Lathrop.
Oakdale Police made the arrest last week and charged Gann with possession of a loaded firearm. Bail had been set at $150,000 and he was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail in Modesto. No charges have been filed relating to the shooting death, according to the Sheriff’s website.
Deputies were eager to talk to Gann about the shooting that also injured a 30-year-old friend, on the short Ideal Parkway north of Highway 120 just east of Austin Road Aug. 15 of last year.
Deputies were quoted as saying Gann had been associated with the Hell’s Angels Nomads Club and Martinez and his friend had been members of the Envied Motorcycle Club at the time of the attack in the early evening hours in mid-August.
Officers believe the attack may have been a form of retaliation against the victims.
Witnesses at the scene of the shooting told officers that the victims had been standing outside a business near their motorcycles when a white compact SUV occupied by two Caucasian males sped into the parking area and rammed them and their motorcycles.
The deputies quoted witnesses who they said told them both men got out of their vehicle and began beating the victims. One of the men ran back to his vehicle and grabbed a hand gun and began shooting at the pair, they said. They then reportedly rushed back to their SUV and fled the area at a high rate of speed.
