Manteca short-order cook Steven Garcia, 53, has been sentenced to state prison after pleading guilty to grand theft embezzlement charges in selling non-existent computers to several elementary school secretaries and others in Manteca.

Detective Steve Harris said that Garcia told him he wanted to serve his time in prison to get the whole matter behind him as quickly as possible.

He was given a two-year sentence for the computer scam and another eight months on a previous case along with another 16 months for violating his probation – all to run concurrently, police said.

Garcia was also ordered to pay restitution to his victims after he is released from state prison, Harris said.
