Honor Farm inmates beat up fellow inmate

FRENCH CAMP — Two inmates at the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office Honor Farm in French Camp were arrested and booked into the county jail in connection with the beating of another inmate at the Honor Farm.
Arrested were 22-year-old David Miramontes Velasco and 31-year-old Charles Dwayne Benham, both Hispanic males.
What provoked the incident, which happened Saturday afternoon, is under investigation.
According to Sheriff’s reports, the 24-year-old victim was kicked several times in the head by Velasco. Benham repeatedly punched he victim in the face area.
Velasco was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy. Benham was charged with conspiracy, battery and bodily injury. Both inmates were transferred to the Sheriff’s “Main Jail.”
