Felipe Martinez faces a continued arraignment at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Manteca courthouse for allegedly molesting multiple children including two youngsters under 7 years old, according to Deputy District Attorney Clair Van Vuren.

Martinez, 51, of Lathrop has been charged with a total of six counts of molestation with special allegations of sex crimes involving children.

The District Attorney’s complaint alleges that a number of the crimes occurred between November and January. Prosecutors also claim that Martinez committed multiple assaults of a 7-year-old girl over a three-month period.

Van Vuren noted that over an earlier two-year period, between April of 2006 and the same month in 2008, Martinez is believed to have also abused a 6- to 8-year-old boy.

The formal complaint charges that a 4-year-old girl had been molested in her own bed over the last two months. Prosecution attorneys allege the man broke into the girl’s trailer and sexually assaulted her.

Van Vuren said Martinez was arrested by Sheriff’s deputies after he was brought into their office for an interview on Jan. 24.  He had been apprehended in the 300 block of Camish Place in Lathrop.

San Joaquin County Sheriff’s public information officer Les Garcia said the suspect’s booking photo was not being released due to concerns for his safety.

Martinez is being held without bail on a Border Patrol hold, according to the Sheriff’s Department website.  Charged with multiple felonies the bail would otherwise be $3 million without the added parole hold.
